Painting Company in Richmond, VA

Richmond’s homes are not like Hampton Roads homes. There are 100-year-old brick rowhouses in the Fan and Church Hill, Victorian and Colonial Revival homes in the Museum District and Ginter Park, and newer siding and brick homes out in Short Pump, Glen Allen and Midlothian. Each one needs a different approach: different prep, different products, and sometimes different paperwork.

Showstopper Painting has painted Virginia homes since 2006, and we bring the same process to Richmond that we use on every job. We handle exterior and interior painting, cabinets, epoxy floors and commercial work across the city and the surrounding counties.

Exterior Painting in Richmond, VA

Much of Richmond’s older housing is brick, and brick needs to breathe. Painting or sealing it the wrong way traps moisture and leads to peeling and spalling, so we check the masonry first and tell you honestly if it shouldn’t be painted. If your home is in one of Richmond’s Old and Historic Districts, some exterior changes, like painting brick that has never been painted, can need approval from the Commission of Architectural Review. Check with the city before work starts, and we’ll plan the job around it.

Richmond summers are hot and humid, and winters bring freeze-thaw cycles. We schedule exterior work around temperature and dew point, and we fix failing caulk and bare wood so water can’t get behind the new paint. Siding, brick, trim, shutters, doors, porches and decks are all covered.

Interior Painting in Richmond, VA

Older Richmond homes come with plaster walls, detailed trim and, in many cases, paint from before 1978. We prep them carefully and follow EPA lead-safe (RRP) practices where they apply. In newer homes, we handle everything from single rooms to whole-house repaints: walls, ceilings, trim and doors, with furniture and floors covered and the house cleaned up at the end of each day.

Cabinet Painting in Richmond, VA

Painting your kitchen or bathroom cabinets gives you a new look for far less than replacing them. Cabinet paint lasts only as long as the prep under it, so we clean, degrease, sand and prime before any color goes on, then let the finish cure properly before the doors go back up.

Trust Only The Best Painting Services in Richmond, VA

A one-story siding home in Midlothian, from color to a clean white. The owners of this one-story home were ready to trade its old color for something brighter. Going from a color to white is less forgiving than it sounds: any spot with thin coverage, old color bleeding through, or uneven prep shows right away. So we started with a full wash, scraped and sanded any failing paint, and caulked and primed the trim and bare spots. Then we applied white in full coats until there was no trace of the old color. The house looks larger and cleaner from the street, and the trim and front door stand out now.

A two-story brick home in the Near West End that we knocked out of the park. This two-story brick home was the kind of project we love. Brick needs more care than siding: it holds moisture, so it has to be cleaned and fully dry before anything goes on it, and it needs a coating that lets it breathe instead of trapping water behind the finish. We cleaned the masonry, repaired problem spots, and used a masonry-rated system. Then we finished the trim, shutters and doors so the whole exterior works together. It’s one of our favorite Richmond jobs, and a big change to the home’s curb appeal.

Epoxy Floors in Richmond, VA

We install epoxy floors for Richmond garages, basements and businesses. A floor that lasts starts with the slab: we grind it, check it for moisture, and repair cracks before any coating goes down, then give it time to cure before you park on it. See how our epoxy floors are installed.

Often, yes, but not always. We check the brick’s condition and moisture first. If it’s historic brick that’s never been painted, we’ll tell you about the alternatives and any approval your district requires.

It depends on the brick’s age, condition and the look you want. Paint gives full, even coverage. Limewash lets some of the brick show through and weathers softly. Some brick is best left alone. We’ll walk you through the tradeoffs at the estimate.

Yes. Every service we offer in Hampton Roads is available in Richmond, including cabinet refinishing and epoxy garage floors.
